Born in 1976, Biplab Dalai is a self-taught artist. Due to his financial conditions, he could not continue his higher studies and was forced to work. His diverse laborious jobs, from selling chicken on a local market to mechanical tasks, often made him dream of a better and more joyful life. Vincent Van Gogh’s autobiography was the turning point. “It touched me a lot and shattered my ideas about my life”. Hence, Biplab Dalai tried to sketch a portrait of Mother Teresa. “It was a nice one, it inspired me a lot and made me confident.” He finally decided to build his life in another way, a “way of being an artist, struggling with brushes, paints and canvas”. |
