Ekeshwar Prasad Hatwal was born in Garhwal in 1953. He studied at Garhwal University (D.A.V.P.G. College Dehra Dun) where he obtained his M.A. Applied Art with Gold Medal. He received the “All India Award” in 1991 from the South Central Zone Cultural Centre in Nagpur as well as the “Rajasthan State Academy Award” in 1996. Hatwal is not only an artist, but he is also an author. Besides his critical notes on Art and Artists, he also wrote the book “Vigyapankala” published 1989 by the Rajasthan Hindi Grunth Academy. His art collections are exhibited across India such as the National Gallery of Modern Art in New Delhi , the National Lalit Kala Academy in Nagpur, the Rastriya Lalit Kala Kendra in Lucknow and finally in Jaipur at Jawahar Kala Kendra Jaipur, R.C.C.L. and R.L.K.A.
Ekeshwar Prasad Hatwal was a member of the General Council Lalit Kala Academy New Delhi (1994) and works nowadays as a lecturer of Applied Arts at the Rajasthan School of Art in Jaipur.
