Laxman Aelay was born in the Nalgonda district of Andhra Pradesh in 1964. After receiving his Bachelor of Commerce degree, he chose another path of life: he went to Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University College of Fine Arts in Hyderabad to study arts (BA in Painting) and become a professional artist. He participated in several important exhibitions of paintings including “Contemporary Deccan – A New Generation of Artists” in 1999 and the “7th Group Show” at the Surya Art Gallery in 2000 both held in Hyderabad. In addition to that, he received several awards and gold medals for his works, like the award from the Hyderabad Art Society in 1995. In the same year he represented India in an exposition organised by TAANA in Chicago, USA and gained international recognition.
Laxman Aelay is presently working as a freelance artist; his paintings mainly show life of rural people he grew up with.
