Art mart of a different kind Jamshedpur, April 12: It was not just another art exhibition. It was one that brought together masterpieces of Subrata Kundu, Jyoti Swarup, C.D. Mistry, Ramesh Gojrala, Ekeshwar P. Hatwal and Mukund Ketkar. Titled A Steal From Every Nook, the exhibition at Beldih Club was inaugurated by chief operating officer of Tata Steel H.M. Nerurkar and flaunted over 60 paintings and sculptures from artists across the country and a few international ones too. “Through exhibitions like these we want to make people understand art and enrich the taste of art connoisseurs here. People should understand the value of art. If people spend in art instead of shares and stock, it will give them rich dividends tomorrow,” said Reeta Kuhad, the owner of Samanvai Art Gallery. From figurative and abstract to contemporary and surreal — all kinds of paintings were on display. The prices of the paintings range from Rs 5,000 to Rs 3 lakh. A Hanuman painting boasting Kalamkari work by Ramesh Gojrala was priced at Rs 3 lakh while sketches of Jyoti Swarup and ink and brush painting by Himmat Shah were about Rs 1.5 lakh. More shows will be held on April 13 and 14 at Gujarati Sananatan Samaj. Source - The Telegraph, Calcutta - India |
